This portfolio can be grouped into two categories: One reflects the grandeur of rare century old architecture, and the other represents the energetic ubiquitous presence of throughways in cities. They are both vigorously executed to show a dramatic and contrasting use of light and shadows. I portray architecture because of its awe-inspiring qualities. I most often depict my urbanscapes as being devoid of humans. It creates a tone that is both peaceful yet a little unsettling. This paradox is often the underlying tension found in cities; how often have you felt completely alone in a city full of people? The juxtaposition of the buildings themselves, which are a clear sign of the presence of Mankind and the physical disappearance of its residents is something I find interesting. I like when these opposing elements clash and interact to evoke in the viewer a sense of quiet peacefulness with a touch of foreboding.
